Stone restoration in Marylebone

Restored marble entrance hall in a Marylebone mansion block

Marylebone's Georgian and Edwardian mansion blocks hold an exceptional density of original marble entrance halls, period terrazzo stair landings and Portland limestone fireplaces. We work across Marylebone Village, Harley Street and Marylebone High Street, restoring communal freehold floors out of hours, and private apartments in coordination with building managers and heritage surveyors.

Marylebone is defined by its mansion blocks: Edwardian and inter-war buildings of four to eight storeys, typically with a principal entrance hall in polished Carrara or Portland limestone, original terrazzo landings up the main staircase, and communal bathrooms in period marble. These surfaces are some of the most intensively trafficked residential stone floors in London, and they need a specific kind of restoration, sensitive to the original finish, compatible with neighbouring ongoing residents, and scheduled around building management constraints.

Our Marylebone work divides cleanly into three strands. Communal freehold restoration across entrance halls, main staircases and shared landings, which we almost always perform out of hours in agreement with the managing agent, with overnight full protection of lift lobbies and service routes. Private residential restoration inside individual flats, typically Calacatta kitchens, honed limestone en-suites and original marble bathrooms that have been overlooked through decades of tenancy. And specialist heritage refurbishment on Harley Street where consulting-room floors and period stone need to be returned to a clinical, uniform finish without altering their grade II character.

Because most Marylebone mansion blocks are in conservation areas, and several on Harley Street are individually listed, we work to a documented dust-controlled protocol on every job. HEPA-vacuumed diamond extraction on every pass, full floor protection along the full approach route, and coordination with porter desks, concierges and heritage surveyors where required. Marius is on every Marylebone job in person, and we do not subcontract any part of the work.

We are fully insured with Hiscox (£2M public liability, £10M employers), carry the full RAMS documentation most W1 managing agents require, and are happy to supply local references from both private clients and freehold management companies on request.
