Stone restoration in Mayfair

Mayfair's Georgian and Regency townhouses contain some of the most concentrated historic stonework in London, and our W1 work reflects that. We restore Carrara marble entrance halls in listed townhouses on Mount Street and Charles Street, Calacatta en-suite bathrooms in mansion-flat conversions off Park Lane, Portland limestone hearths and stone staircases in club premises off Berkeley Square, and original period terrazzo landings in Edwardian apartment blocks behind Grosvenor Square. The defining requirement on most of these projects is conservation. Many surfaces are protected, original to the property, and irreplaceable. We over-restore nothing.

Our Mayfair workload tends to fall into three patterns. The first is private residential restoration in listed buildings, where the brief is preserve and refresh, not refinish. We hand-hone, hand-polish, and remove only the minimum surface depth needed to lift staining and re-establish a consistent plane. The second is hospitality and member-club work, where stairs, lobbies and back-of-house corridors take constant traffic and need a hard, sealed, easy-clean surface that still looks period-appropriate at the front of house. The third is high-end retail fit-out aftercare, particularly along Mount Street and Bruton Street, where flagship floors are commissioned in Calacatta or honed Portland and need yearly maintenance to retain their as-installed finish.

We are familiar with the practical realities of working in Mayfair. Listed-building considerations, managing agent approvals, restricted noisy-work hours, dust-free containment for occupied buildings, and discreet access via service entrances. Marius surveys every Mayfair project in person, and we do not subcontract restoration to third-party labour.
