Stone restoration in Notting Hill

Honed limestone kitchen floor restored in a Notting Hill family home

Notting Hill combines mid-Victorian stucco villas with contemporary architect-led interiors, which means we see everything from original encaustic tile and terrazzo floors to vast honed limestone and Calacatta kitchen islands. Our work across Notting Hill, Westbourne Grove and the Holland Park fringe focuses on quiet, dust-controlled restoration in family homes, with particular care around school hours and neighbours.

Notting Hill is one of the most varied stone environments we work in. Inside three streets you can move from an 1850s Italianate stucco villa with original terrazzo and encaustic tile hallways, to a 1970s mews conversion with slate hearths and travertine bathrooms, to a 2020-fit-out family home with ten-square-metre Calacatta kitchen islands and book-matched honed limestone wet rooms. Each generation of stone has its own failure modes and its own appropriate method, which is why we survey every Notting Hill project in person before we write a quote.

The bulk of our W11 and W2 work falls into four patterns. Kitchen worktop restoration on full-slab Calacatta, Statuario and honed French limestone, removing etch rings, wine and citrus stains, and re-honing where the book-match has gone out of register. Floor restoration across large-format honed limestone and porcelain in open-plan reception and family rooms, diamond-honing to a consistent plane, filling failed grout and resealing with a breathable impregnator. Period terrazzo restoration in the original hallways of the older stucco villas, including crack-injection, careful chip fills matched to existing aggregate, and a hand-polish back to factory finish. And smaller but high-value en-suite and guest bathroom refinishing in marble and honed limestone, typically scheduled around family routines.

Our Notting Hill protocol is deliberately low-impact. We run full dust-controlled diamond extraction, full floor and furniture protection across approach routes, and we schedule around school runs and neighbour noise hours when requested. Marius is on every Notting Hill job in person, and we do not subcontract any part of the restoration work.

We are fully insured with Hiscox (£2M public liability, £10M employers) and carry the full certification set required by most Notting Hill managing agents. We are happy to provide local client references on request.
