Area we cover
Stone restoration in North London
North London covers an unusually broad spread of architecture, and our work across Highgate, Hampstead, Primrose Hill, Camden, Islington, Stoke Newington, Crouch End and Muswell Hill reflects that. The stone vocabulary changes by postcode. Late-Victorian encaustic tile and terrazzo hallways in N6 and N7 conversion houses. Arts and Crafts limestone fireplaces in N10 and Highgate villas. Marble entrance halls and Carrara worktops in modern Primrose Hill and St John's Wood family homes. 1970s travertine in mansion-block lobbies in Camden and Belsize Park. And large-format honed limestone in contemporary architect-led extensions across Islington and Stoke Newington. Each project gets surveyed in person before we quote.
Our North London workload tends to concentrate on five patterns. Original terrazzo and encaustic tile restoration in late-Victorian conversion-house hallways, including chip fills, crack stitching, and a hand-polish that respects the patina rather than refinishing it. Period limestone fireplace restoration, lifting smoke staining and re-pointing failed mortar without bleaching the surface. Kitchen worktop refinishing on Calacatta, Carrara, granite and quartzite, removing etch rings, wine staining and sealer failure. Bathroom and wet-room refurbishment in honed limestone and travertine, particularly on second-floor and loft-extension installations where movement cracks are common. And exterior step, portico and tile-path restoration on the elevated, exposed properties around Highgate Hill, Hampstead Heath and Alexandra Park.
The practical protocol across North London is consistent. Full diamond dust extraction, breathable sealers compatible with older substrates, careful waste handling in conservation areas, and scheduling around school and neighbour patterns. Marius runs every site visit in person, the crew is in-house, and we do not subcontract restoration work.
We are fully insured (£2M public liability, £10M employers, Hiscox) and carry the certification required by managing agents and conservation officers across N1, N6, N16, N19, NW1, NW3 and NW5. Local references available on request.
